About CYME

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYME), established in August 1964, has a long and distinguished history. With comprehensive academic programs spanning undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, the department has cultivated alumni who excel across diverse sectors of society and continue to achieve outstanding accomplishments.

Educational Features
CYME emphasizes a strong balance between theory and practice. The curriculum includes fundamental and essential theoretical courses, as well as diverse and practical hands-on courses. Concepts and attitudes that benefit students’ personal and societal development are incorporated throughout the program.
The department is proud to be the first mechanical engineering program in Taiwan accredited by the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET), aligning its standards with international engineering education and gaining global recognition. Moving forward, CYME will continue strengthening its international accreditation, expanding student exchange programs, and developing global academic pathways.

Research Features
The department’s research development centers on integrating academic innovation with industrial applications. We combine forward-looking academic fields with distinctive and competitive industrial technologies. Students are guided to cultivate the mindset, methodology, and adaptability needed to face emerging challenges.
Our research outputs have been widely published in top international journals and conferences, while also contributing significantly to the advancement of Taiwan’s technology and industry. CYME will continue to lead specialized departmental development and large-scale research initiatives.
